WHITE STEEL
STAINLESS STEEL
ALUMINUM
Ruth’s passion has always been to have her paintings outdoors to energize and communicate with the environment.
She was very happy when she became acquainted with a company in New Zealand, by the end of 2012, that could infuse respectively melt a high-resolution scan of an original painting of hers into white steel.
White Steel Limited Edition Prints
New Zealand Innovation
Outdoor Works
I believe I am possibly one of the first artists in New Zealand to have my paintings digitalized and printed on white or stainless steel using top quality high resolution scanners and printing processes to produce these limited edition prints,’’ Stirnimann says.
"This is a breakthrough for us in the art world here with this new technique of steel prints. It has been exciting working with Synergy Printing of Waikanae".
Synergy Printing in Waikanae was the company that had mastered this art profoundly. Stirnimann had several of her high-resolution scanned originals printed in different sizes on white steel.
Besides incorporating them outdoors on her two hectare block of land to vitalize it. Many people were intrigued by this idea and bought some of her prints, to enjoy their beauty and radiance on their own property, either in the garden on a stand, or have them with magnets on the roof of their houses. There are so many possibilities of installing them outside to inspire and delight you daily.
She also found that different galleries in New Zealand were interested in her approach of outdoor art. She was invited to exhibit in their gallery courtyards to enliven and lighten up the spaces
Two Rivers Gallery in Cheviot and Bryce Gallery in Christchurch were two of them, who soon after the first prints were done in late 2012, invited Ruth to display them in their gallery. Unfortunately the company had to close down a couple of years later. This was due to not being in demand enough to be business-wise sustainable.
Despite working with some other companies, she had unfortunately could not find anyone else who had perfected this art as Synergy Printing did. Therefore, all the prints in white steel that she has left, are precious and unique.
EXHIBITION AT BRYCE GALLERY, CHRISTCHURCH FEBRUARY 2013
She said she had always wanted to produce outdoor works to brighten up and energize the landscape. This technique captures the color in the steel so the painting is not printed onto it, but rather into it. This makes the colors crisp and vibrant.
These limited edition steel and aluminum prints have become affordable for people who like Stirnimann’s works but cannot pay the price of an original painting. As well, Limited edition canvas prints are available.
The colors on steel appear super crisp, very sharp and strong and will last longer outside than standard aluminum prints . Stirnimann said she felt the aluminum prints were warmer, softer and possibly more feminine.
Ruth always wanted to venture into the outdoor environment with her works but needed to find a way of making her paintings weather-proof. These steel prints make the landscape, a public place, commercial places more alive. They radiate joy, harmony, balance and inspire people. On a grey day it is so amazing to see them outside. They help to lift the spirit and on a sunny day they really "show off" their beauty.
They could be very fascinating for landscapers and architects to incorporate into their planning of gardens but also public places, public gardens, on house walls, on commercial properties and fences providing a major artistic impact.
After many years of experience with these white steel prints, Ruth realized, that the claim of the company at the time that they would last "forever” outdoors is not quite correct. Especially being exposed to the strong NZ sun. They do fade after several years, yet she feels, it is and was worth any money to have this brilliance, these radiant colors of her powerful paintings reproduced, thus enriching her land and giving her so much joy. Driving down her driveway, seeing one of her trigons on a steel display greeting her. Before entering her art studio being welcomed by one of these amazing steel prints. This is what brings her joy.
Therefore, if this intrigues you in any way, do not hesitate to contact Ruth for one of these remaining white steel prints. You can view the master list for availability.
