Ruth reflects on her Informal Abstract Works

Ruth approaches every new work of art with complete openness. She listens to the intangible energy patterns that flow through her and wish to be manifested, made tangible.

INFORMAL ABSTRACT WORKS

Layers of Creation

The many layers of these works produce a harmony, radiating warmth, wisdom and balance. These paintings also create a tranquil space within the viewer that opens a path to newness and transformation.

Adding Natural Elements

In the period from 2004 – 2006, she often added sand from many different beaches throughout New Zealand to her paintings. Not only does this add plasticity, three dimensionality and structure to the works, but the sand also shares its ancient wisdom with us, adding further vibrations.

The addition of this sand vibration permits a strong reconnection with the earth element – one, Ruth believes, the viewer can feel, see and even hear.

Working Outside with Water

Since 2007, she has often worked outside, using copious amounts of water. The water element enables the paintings to flow more. Water shares its obvious and subtle wisdom with us. It challenges us to become more flexible, demanding surrender to a divine rhythm and our

ever-changing reality, connecting us with the world and all-there-is.

The water element further stands for courage, curiosity and the strength of daring to flow within the natural rhythm of our lives.

Energy of the Sun and Element of Fire

In 2009, Ruth started to consciously incorporate the energy of the sun, the element of fire, into her paintings. She has a vast color palette and creates every color for her works individually. The drying process of every single one of her colors on scorching hot days is a fascinating process to watch. The different components of the individual colors appear to dry layer by layer, creating a powerfully warm, ethereal energy on the canvas – much richer than if the color had been dried outside on a cloudy day or even inside.

The fire element connects us to our fire within, our creative power, our passion and strength, to the point where it becomes beneficial throughout our lives. “I felt humbled and simultaneously empowered when the fire element entered my work” Stirnimann said.

SACRED GEOMETRIC WORKS

Ruth’s Thoughts on Sacred Geometric Works

Ruth enjoys working with sacred geometry, through which the laws of all creation are expressed. The basic structure of these formal abstract works comes to her within a few hours; but then can take weeks and months to finish the painting with all its colors. Through their concentration of energy and structure the geometrics bring her and hopefully the viewer, into a deep state of contemplation that goes beyond form into unlimited space. These paintings form strong, new energy patterns within us. “I can truly feel a change of patterns on a cellular level within my entire body and in my brain structure. This also opens new potential, teasing dormant brain cells into life” she states. “There is a beautiful, profound communication between the painting and myself.”

SACRED GEOMETRIC WORKS

Transforming Over the Years

It is fascinating how the geometric works have transformed over the years. In addition to the original sacred geometric works – the mandalas – earth grids developed al well in mid-2008, as she began to have a stronger connection to the changing electro-magnetic fields. The change and emergence of new works keeps her in awe and in a playful, explorative spirit.

Her Own Geometrics

All geometric works are able be hung in different ways. The earlier ones in two, the later ones in 8 and the trigons in 6 ways. In each position, the painting has a different expression or message and deep harmony that it wishes to share. She loves to create works that feel alive, flow with life and can be playfully hung on the wall according the buyer’s need. In every position, something unique radiates and therefore speaks to another side of the mind, heart and energy system.

“Painting is a joyful, sometimes challenging process of expanding my own conscious awareness. I do see this as one of my contributions to a more loving and harmonious world. All of us and everything in it are intricately connected with one another” she comments on her works.

Her Geometrics Through the Years

In 2010, she began to work with different geometric shapes, initially mainly equal sided triangles and later with hexagons, pentagons and circles. She has always been interested in what the “external’ form triggers within her – with what innate wisdom it resonates – what new doors to awareness are opened.

Between 2011 and 2013, she had been working on a special geometric series, which was very inspiring: geometrics on different background colors, 60x60cm. These base colors again provoke a very different manifestation on the canvas, which amazes and excites her.

In 2015 a new series started: Connectivity. An exploration of connections, relationships, again on different shapes of canvas. So far the circle, the trigon and the square are completed. A very new way to work geometrically.
